Port Angeles’ very own adaptation of this classic holiday ballet opens our season at the brand-new Donna Morris Theater. This beloved original staging of “The Nutcracker” returns as the family event of the holiday, bringing together over 100 Peninsula ballet artists, theatre performers, and leading guest artists. Set to Tchaikovsky’s traditional score, this home-grown production pays tribute to the rich history of life on the Peninsula, as it follows two American children, Marie & Frank, through the Nutcracker story told through the lense of the Civil war era of 1895.

Highly praised by local critics and audiences for its storytelling brilliance, locally crafted costumes, and beautifully hand-painted backdrops of the Olympic Mountains, this is an annual holiday show you’ll want to enjoy with your entire family, young and old, for years to come.

Don Quixote

FHAEC - Donna Morris Theater

With Guests of American Ballet Theatre

Don’t miss this gorgeous full-length production, featuring guest artists from American Ballet Theatre and set to Minkus’ unforgettable score. Inspired by Marius Petipa’s choreography, PACB’s sumptuous three act staging of Don Quixote is a true celebration of dance with Spanish flare. The soloists and the Corps de Ballet are carried away in ensembles and pas de deux to the strains of a spirited score. Written in the 17th century, Cervantes’ novel encounts the adventures of Don Quixote, an idealist adventurer who one day decides to ride across Spain with his naive sidekick, Sancho Panza. In Castile-La Mancha, they meet Kitri and Basilio, two lovers who wish to be united, despite the objection of Kitri’s father. In the end, it is Don Quixote who delivers the happy ending after battling windmills and crossing paths with Cupid, Dulcinea and the Queen of the Dryads. The costumes and colorful sets of this gorgeous and comedic full-length sublimate a vivacious and entertaining work.
